Research Fellows

Under the guidance of Professor Ricardo Hausmann, affiliated professors throughout Harvard, and senior researchers at the Growth Lab, Research Fellows contribute significantly to the core research agenda of the lab while also collaborating with government leaders and development practitioners in the field to apply research to policy problems. Research Fellows gain analytical skills alongside practical, hands-on experience working in lower- and middle-income countries on pressing development challenges. We are looking for candidates who have a background in economics (focused on growth, trade theory, and/or applied econometrics with an emphasis on identification strategy), who have either experience or deep interest in applied research, working in developing countries, and interacting with a multitude of collaborators in varying contexts in a fast-paced environment.

Fellow, Economic Analysis & Data Management

The Growth Lab Fellow, Economic Analysis & Data Management, is a challenging role that offers a unique opportunity to work on and contribute to a combination of frontier research and the application of research to address real world development problems. Under the guidance of Professor Ricardo Hausmann, affiliated professors throughout Harvard, and senior researchers at the Growth Lab Fellows in this position contribute significantly to the core research agenda of the lab. Fellows in this role gain analytical skills alongside practical, hands-on experience working in lower- and middle-income countries on pressing development challenges.

Research Assistant

The Growth Lab has an immediate opening for a full-time Research Assistant to help with a range of research responsibilities. As an important part of our research teams, they will gain valuable experience working with faculty and research fellows on international development research and policy. Primary responsibilities include learning complex research ideas, concepts, and methodologies and proactively applying them to new projects and situations; and working closely with Growth Lab research teams in developing working papers, journal articles and presentations. 

Pre and Postdoctoral Fellowships (Non-Stipendiary only)

The Growth Lab accepts applications on a rolling basis for Pre or Postdoctoral Fellows who are interested in conducting research in the areas of economic development, growth, macroeconomics and trade as part of the Growth Lab. The Pre or Postdoctoral Fellows will conduct independent research, while contributing to the vibrant community of Growth Lab fellows. The Fellows will also have the opportunity to contribute to applications of the research in the policy arena.
