CID Fellow, Dr. Ermal Frasheri, Elected to UN Committee on Migrant Workers

Ermal FrasheriDr. Ermal Frasheri, research fellow at the Center for International Development's Growth Lab, has been elected to the United Nations Committee on Migrant Workers (CMW).  

Frasheri was named during the 8th session of the meeting of States parties to the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, on June 28, 2017, at UN headquarters in New York,

Frasheri is one of seven new members elected to serve four year terms beginning in 2018. Frasheri will represent Albania. This marks the country's first admittance in the Committee.  

The CMW is a body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention rights by State parties. They meet in Geneva and normally hold two sessions per year.
